Trip Information Center - Help and FAQ
Below you willl find some answers to the most frequently asked questions about the JNF Alternative Break Program
-
My login doesn't work here. I am entering my email and password and I keep getting an error message. What do I do?
Have you already registered for the JNF Alternative Break Program? If not (if this is the first site that you have been to), you need to go to www.jnf.org/break
If you have already registered, have you requested a password for this site. The password you created for the registration and fundraising site does not work here. For security reasons, you need to create a new password for use on this site only.
-
I have already registered, but I still get an error when I try to request a new password. What is the problem?
This site is not "live" with the registration at www.jnf.org/break. There is about a 24 hour delay between your registration and the information being sent here. If you just registered, wait a day, and then attempt your login here.
-
Why all the sites and logons?
The site at www.alternativebreak.org is for collecting information from you (the applicant) and for us (the program organizer) to be able to provide you with information, such as flights, itneraries, packing lists, and more. Shorashim is the programming partner with JNF on the Alternative Break program and maintains this site and the information provided.
The site at www.jnf.org/break is where you can find out more information, register for the program, and track your fundraising progress.

What is the flight information for the trips this winter and spring?
General dates are available at the www.jnf.org/break. Specific flight information will be made available when you are conifrmed for a trip. You cannot be confirmed on a trip until you have:
Completed your fundraising minimum or submitted the fundraising guarantee.
Completed all of the online forms at the Trip Information Center.

Where do I request a flight extension for my trip to Israel?
Flight extesnions are requested here at the Trip Information Center and can be made only after you have either completed your fundraising minimum or submitted the fundraising guarantee.
-
I have plans in Israel, I need to know what my extension is right away. What can I do?
Please note that extensions are not always possible and are in no way guaranteed. The airlines place certain restriction on extensions and those rules govern any decision. You can only make a request for extensions after you have either completed your fundraising minimum or submitted the fundraising guarantee, and from that point it can take up to three weeks for an extension to be processed.
Some other rules for extensions include:
- The fee for extensions is $150 and is paid upon your acceptance of the extension. All payments are final and are considered confirmation of your acceptence. There are no refunds for extensions (even if you do not travel), and any changes in extensions will be charged a separate extension fee.
- Extensions are on return flights only and only to NYC (either JFK or EWR) - no changes can be made on the flight to Israel, and there are no stopover requests.
- Extensions are subject to availability on flights and in fare class. There may not be an extension available on the date you want. If there is an availability in a higher fare class, you may be given the option to accept the extension for a higher price.
- Extensions are subject to limits which vary between airlines. In general, extensions may not be made for 90 past the date of departure, and in some cases a maximum number of extensions per group is enforced. JNF and Shorashim cannot guarantee the availibility of an extension.
